We've all, at some point, had to buy cheap stuff. In Japan, it's not really an issue thanks to the 100-yen shops! As the name says, everything costs 100 yen (well, 105 yen with taxes included), that is, about 1 dollar, with very few exceptions...interesting, isn't it?
The articles are obviously not of the best quality but they're definitely not crap and the quality-price ratio is unbeatable! And the 100-yen shops don't have any bad reputation whatsoever, everybody buys stuff there and there are so many of them that it's very easy to find one nearby, notably in large supermarkets and department store, which generally have a 100-yen shop section. They sell just about anything, here are some pictures so that you see for yourself :

There are two exceptions, can you guess what they are?
The funny thing is that, since everything costs 100 yen, some articles that cost less than that in standard supermarkets are then more expensive in 100-yen shops. I'm not sure my last sentence is clear, but I'm tired and it's not clear in French either...
And before anybody asks: NO, if I need to buy presents, I'm NOT going to go to a 100-yen shop!
